  1. These blades may be fine for some people, but with safety razors you need to try a few different blades to find the right one. I made the mistake of buying these when I bought my safety razor and the shave was not the best for me. I had a 5 O-clock shadow by noon each day and the blades just dragged across my face hardly cutting the hair with a new blade. I bought a sample pack of different blades and found the Feathers blades worked best on my face. Again these may be the best for you, but before buying one brand in bulk you should buy a sample pack to find the right blade for your face.

  2. This is my first experience with DE Safety Razors. I ordered the Merkur 1904 (came with 1 blade) along with Derby’s, Wilkinson’s and Feathers. So far the Derby, Wilkinson and Merkur blade seem to be about the same, although I did use the Derby before I recieved my shaving oil. There was a complimentary sample of oil in the razor and I used it with the Merkur but ran out before I got to the Derby. The shaving oil seems to make a big difference in helping the blade glide over your skin and cut the whiskers instead of pulling or dragging. Oil and lather seem to work really good together although I haven’t tried using just oil and doubt that I will. It’s a noticeably good difference using the oil with the lather though. I have a good few Derbys (25 were in the order) along with the Wilkinsons (5) and Feathers (5) so I have plenty of time to decide the outcome. One thing: do not go to aggressively, no matter which blade you use. Let the weight of the razor slice the whiskers. Any extra pressure by the user will only result in the loss of some skin. Happy shaves.

  4. I started using a safety razor just recently. I bought a Parker it came with shark DE blades, they were good. The Dreby gives me a closer shave quicker and rarely a nick. I use the Art of Shaving system, and found these blades work better when I use a thin wet coat of lather .I would highly recommend these blades

  5. For the price these blades are hard to beat. However I have very thick stubble and these blades are not that sharp compared to Shark or Feather. They were however very forgiving and I would recommend for a beginner or someone with thin growth.
